Noksoul operates a GMP-, ISO- and HACCP-certified production base in the Hongjiang High-tech Zone of Hunan Province, a region rich in Camellia oleifera (oil-tea) resources. We specialize in Tea Saponin, a natural triterpenoid saponin mixture isolated from oil-tea seed (Camellia oleifera Abel. seed) through controlled water extraction, foam/resin enrichment, chromatography and low-temperature spray drying. Our production workflow isolates and standardizes tea saponin to 60%, 80% or 90% by HPLC, delivering consistent natural-surfactant material for agrochemical adjuvant formulators, daily-use chemical and cosmetic manufacturers, concrete and gypsum foaming-agent producers, aquaculture suppliers and pharmaceutical intermediate developers worldwide.
Why Choose Noksoul Tea Saponin
Natural Plant-Derived Non-Ionic Surfactant. Tea saponin is a well-characterized triterpenoid saponin mixture with natural emulsifying, foaming, wetting and dispersing activity. Sourced from Camellia oleifera seed, it is a biodegradable alternative to synthetic surfactants, suitable for eco-positioned detergents, shampoos, cosmetics and agrochemical formulations.
Controlled Water Extraction Preserving Surface Activity. Manufacturing applies optimized water extraction, resin enrichment and low-temperature spray drying. This route preserves saponin foam and emulsifying activity, in contrast to harsh high-temperature processing that hydrolyzes glycosidic bonds and lowers surface activity.
HPLC-Driven Batch-to-Batch Standardization. Every production lot is quantified by HPLC for tea saponin content (60%/80%/90%), alongside foaming height and stability testing. Multi-analyte documentation gives formulators full batch traceability to support product positioning and quality consistency.
Controlled Impurity and Residual Management. Our quality system monitors residual solvents (in compliance with ICH Q3C), ash, moisture and microbial load. Each batch is controlled for processing-related contaminants to meet customer specifications.
Heavy-Metal and Microbiological Compliance. Each lot undergoes ICP-MS heavy-metal screening, full microbiological panel testing and critical safety parameter verification before commercial release, in line with our established ISO / GMP / HACCP quality system.
Complete Export Documentation. COA, MSDS, HPLC assay, heavy-metal test report and batch-traceability records accompany every shipment. With over two decades of industry expertise and local oil-tea resource integration, our materials serve customers across the Americas, Europe, Southeast Asia and beyond.
What Is Tea Saponin
Botanical Source and Composition
Tea saponin (CAS 8047-15-2, C57H90O26, ~1191 g/mol) is a triterpenoid saponin mixture naturally accumulated in the seed of Camellia oleifera Abel. (oil-tea tree). As a natural non-ionic surfactant, it produces rich, stable foam and exhibits emulsifying, wetting, dispersing and solubilizing properties. It also exhibits documented anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-fungal and insect-repellent activities, which underpin its broad use across agrochemicals, daily-use chemicals, cosmetics, construction foaming agents, aquaculture and pharmaceutical intermediates.
Standardized Tea Saponin vs. Crude Oil-Tea Seed Powder
Crude oil-tea seed powder / defatted seed meal contains tea saponin alongside large amounts of oil, protein, polysaccharide, fibre and pigments; saponin content typically ranges only around 10–15% and varies widely with seed origin, storage and processing. Standardized tea saponin produced via water extraction, resin enrichment, chromatography and low-temperature drying is highly concentrated to 60%, 80% or 90% by HPLC, enabling predictable foaming/emulsifying performance and reliable batch-to-batch consistency for finished formulations.
Production Process
Incoming Camellia oleifera seed raw material is inspected for botanical identity, initial saponin content, heavy-metal levels and microbiological status prior to manufacturing.
Raw-Material Pretreatment — Dried oil-tea seed is cleaned, crushed and defatted to remove residual oil, then screened to obtain a uniform defatted seed meal. Botanical identity is confirmed before extraction.
Water Extraction — Defatted meal undergoes controlled hot-water circulation extraction to solubilize saponins, maximizing saponin yield while limiting co-extraction of proteins and polysaccharides.
Clarification and Concentration — The extraction liquor is clarified by filtration and centrifugation, then concentrated by low-temperature vacuum evaporation to obtain a crude saponin extract.
Resin / Column Chromatography Enrichment — Crude extract is loaded onto macroporous adsorption resin or chromatographic resin for selective adsorption and elution, separating tea saponin from sugars, pigments and other impurities.
Low-Temperature Drying for Final Standardization — Purified saponin solution is concentrated and low-temperature spray-dried to obtain a light yellow to yellow-brown powder, assayed to the target 60% / 80% / 90% HPLC grade.
Quality Release and Packaging — Dried powder is assayed for saponin content by HPLC, foam height and stability, moisture, ash, residual solvents, heavy metals and microbiological safety. Qualified material is packed into double-layer PE inner bags with desiccants, then sealed within light-proof, moisture-barrier fibre drums.
Functional Properties & Benefits
Natural Surfactant: Emulsifying, Foaming, Wetting. Tea saponin produces rich, fine and stable foam, and acts as a natural emulsifier, wetting agent and dispersant. It is mild on skin and biodegradable, making it a preferred green alternative in shampoos, body washes, facial cleansers and natural detergents.
Agrochemical Adjuvant Activity. As a natural wetting and spreading agent, tea saponin improves the coverage and adhesion of agrochemical sprays, and exhibits mild insect-repellent and anti-fungal properties, supporting eco-friendly pesticide and fertilizer formulations.
Anti-Inflammatory and Skin-Soothing Support. Tea saponin shows documented anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity, and is used in skin-soothing and anti-irritant cosmetic formulations due to its mild, plant-derived cleansing profile.
Foaming Agent for Construction. Stable foam-generating performance makes tea saponin widely used as a natural foaming agent in aerated concrete, gypsum and light-weight building materials.
Aquaculture and Other Industrial Uses. Tea saponin is used in aquaculture pond management (fish detox, snail and pest control) and as a natural emulsifier and dispersant across textile, leather and environmental applications.
